The pre-dissolve step sounded fussy but it took maybe two minutes, and the blue came out exactly like the "Vitamin Sea" swatch on the box. I threw in three old tees and they all soaked up the color evenly with no patchy spots, which I honestly didn't expect for a pod.
The packaging says it handles up to 21 ounces of fabric, and I was genuinely surprised it took my four faded tees from blah to a true Vitamin Sea blue without any blotching. Pre-dissolving the pod was the only extra step, but it mixed in cleanly and the color held after a wash cycle.
The pre-dissolve step made this so much less messy than other dyes I've tried, and the blue shifted a touch brighter on my cotton tees than the swatch suggested but in a good way. Three shirts came out even and true to the pod's full shade without any blotching.
